Corey lived the fast life. He was a drug dealer and addicted to cocaine and marijuana. He also loved the ladies and had multiple females at a time. Corey was only in high school when his life started to fall apart. When he first started selling drugs, he thought it was easy and fast money. The deeper he got into selling drugs the more challenges he faced. He had to deal with defending his territory where he sold drugs. Selling drugs was no longer safe and most of his friends were murdered. Corey grew tired and felt that his enterprise was coming to an end. One of Corey’s girlfriends reported him to the police. The police did a drug bust on Corey’s apartment and he went to prison. Corey was broken and found God while he was in prison. Corey realized that he had a calling on his life to preach the gospel. Corey did his time in prison and when he was released he started his own ministry.
Do you have a story similar to Corey’s journey or an ugly past? If so, God can use you. What was meant for evil, God can turn it into something good. The story of Joseph is a perfect example how God can change something bad into something good. His brothers sold him into slavery, he was falsely accused, he spent time in prison, and God promoted him to a high position where he used him to save the nation of Egypt. Joseph suffered hardship but he continued to trust God. God is a turnaround God. If we trust him, he can change our situation around. Do not let anyone make you feel ashamed of your past. Romans 8:1 says, “There is no condemnation for those who are in Jesus Christ.” Tell them that your past is under the blood. God is no respecter of persons, he can use anybody. Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Let’s pray:
Dear Heavenly Father, I have made many mistakes and I often feel like I am over my head. I trust you to bring some good out of my situation. Lord from reading your word, I know that you are a God of healing, restoration, miracles, and deliverance. You are the God of the break through. Lord, even though I do not see my situation changing with my natural eye, I know that you are working. Lord, I know you will show up in your perfect timing. You are the Alpha and Omega; The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Give me the strength to endure this trial and turn my test into a testimony. Lord, strengthen my faith in you.
Jeremiah 29:11-14 says, “ For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.” In Jesus name Amen.
