Sandy suffered from anxiety for a year and a half. Her first attack came when she was driving home from work. She felt her heart palpate, she could barely breathe, she started having severe hot flashes, and she felt herself starting to black out. Sandy started thinking that she was going to die. Sandy knew that if she called on Jesus, she would make it through. Sandy pulled over on the side of the road and started to pray until the panic attack passed. Sandy kept experiencing more frequent attacks until she had enough. Sandy went to the doctor and they gave her medication but it only made the problem worse. She felt worse when the medication wore up then before she even took it. Sandy decided to get into God’s word and discovered lots of scriptures that helped her overcome her anxiety. Each time when she felt a panic attack arise within herself, she would mediate and constantly repeat the scripture over and over in her mind or out loud. These are the scriptures that Sandy used but there are many more:
Philippians 4:6-7: Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
1 Peter 5:6-7: Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares for you. Isaiah 26:3: Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee.
Isaiah 41:10: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Deuteronomy 31:8: It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.
Heavenly Father, I will enter into your gates with thanksgiving, I will enter into your courts with praise, I will be thankful and bless your name. Lord, your word says perfect love cast out fear so I refuse to be afraid. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God hath not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Psalm 27:1 says, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears as in Psalms 34:4.
I cast down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ as in 2 Corinthians 10:5. I bind up every spirit of fear, anxiety, and worry in my life in Jesus name. I loose upon myself the spirit of peace, love, and joy. No weapon formed against me shall prosper. Greater are you in me Lord than him that’s in the world. I declare that I shall have peace because this is the will of God for me. In Jesus name Amen.
